The first week of January, my boyfriend Layne and I built the perfect snow steer. He only came to our waist but was about as wide as tall. He went crazy on Facebook, with over 100 shares and hundreds of likes. He was the coolest thing ever and was named Frosty. Frosty was out Heat Wave on a Chill Factor Cow.
Well this past weekend I think we topped our last steer. Frosty 2 is a life size steer. His pedigree is Man Among Boy on a Chill Factor cow. We started on him at 3:00 and did not finish him until 6:00. We started on the legs first. All we did was roll a bunch of snow together then place them up right. We had to make sure that they were good and stable to be sure to hold up the whole body. After that we rolled the body big enough to reach all four legs. Then it was pack away. We had to pick up snow and take it to the body and pack it on. When he was all packed together Layne started to then carve out his legs and his butt, while I did his neck and head. All I did was pack the snow together until it looked somewhat like a neck and head. Then I took a butter knife to cut out all of the little details of his face and neck. The head was really hard to create but the hardest part had to be making the tail. We had troubles keeping it to stay together but we got it to stay finally. We made final touches and stepped back and looked at our creation. All we could say to each other was that he looked freaking amazing (and he did). I know every thinks we should have painted him black but for 1 that would be a lot of paint and time and 2 we think he still looks just as amazing white. Our next goal for next winter is to build a snow steer class and have people judge them. We hope you enjoy him as much as we do! =)
